Manipulation and mobilization of joints

A manual therapy that manipulates and mobilizes the joints of the foot and ankle, and helps restore normal joint range of motion and function. The manipulation and mobilization of joints is used to treat a wide range of complaints including, but not limited to:

  • bunion pain
  • foot/ankle pain
  • muscle cramps
  • ankle instability

During a session, the joints of the foot/ankle are gently manipulated and taken through their normal range of motions, which aids the affected area in creating physiological changes to alignment. Utilized in combination with other techniques, joint manipulation and mobilization employs a quick yet gentle thrusting manoeuvre which rapidly moves the joint beyond its normal operating range of motion, but below its anatomical maximum range of motion. Joint manipulation and mobilization can help improve normal joint function by releasing pinched joint capsules and breaking down adhesions around the joint.
